I LOVE podcasts!
If you know me in real life, you probably already know this and I’ve probably texted you at some point, with the words, “you have to listen to this” and a link to a podcast episode. Or worse, I may have even “made you” listen to one.
I listen to podcasts while cleaning, while cooking, while driving, and sometimes while in the shower. It’s not that I’m looking for a distraction. I just love listening to inspiring people tell inspiring stories.
I also love smiling and podcasts make me smile. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Now onto the list.
1. This American Life
It’s THE most popular podcast around. I’ve both ugly-cried and ugly-laughed during SO many episodes of this show because it’s SO darn good. Hosted by Ira Glass.
2. The Paperclipping Roundtable
A scrapbooking podcast where people (mostly women) from the scrapbooking industry discuss a variety of topics. Hosted by the great wife and husband team of Noell and Izzy Hyman.
3. On Being
This podcast blows my mind every time. So much so I don’t even know how to describe it. This is from the On Being website “On Being opens up the animating questions at the center of human life: What does it mean to be human, and how do we want to live?” Hosted by Krista Tippett.
4. Elise Gets Crafty
Elise’s shows are about blogging, small-business, goal-setting, motivation, and inspiration. I love her point of view on SO many things and her podcast doesn’t disappoint. Hosted by Elise Blaha Cripe.
5. Serial
Currently in production on Seasons 2 & 3 and not currently airing. This was the podcast that launched a thousand podcasts. Season 1, about The Murder of Hae Min Lee, while a bit intense, was just such good storytelling. Hosted by Sarah Koenig.
6. The Lively Show
Jess interviews really interesting people who are going to inspire you to live a life with intention and get you moving towards those dreams of yours. Jess infuses her own, very mindful, ideas and questions throughout each episode as well. Hosted by Jess Lively.
7. The Longest Shortest Time
If you’re a parent, were a parent, thinking about becoming a parent in the future you must listen to this podcast. Funny and heartwarming all rolled up into one. Hosted by Hillary Frank.
8. Raise Your Hand Say Yes
A podcast about creative women and the stories behind their businesses and brands. Hosted by Tiffany Han.
9. Brains On!
A great science podcast for kids. Yes, my kids listen to podcasts too.
10. Storynory
A great storytelling podcasts for kids featuring myths, fairy tales, and original stories.
And that’s it. My top 10 favorite podcasts.
You can listen to podcasts on your Mac using iTunes. On your iPad or iPhone using the Podcasts app. On Windows 8 using the Podcasts! app. Or on Android using the Stitcher Radio app.
What are your favorite podcasts? Any podcasts you think should’ve made the list? I love test-driving new podcasts so let me know in the comments.
I am so grateful for you. Thank you for spending a moment with me today.

Thanks for reading Jess! I find your comments and questions are often some of the most useful takeaways from each episode. I often call to mind whether or not I’m living from my values. It’s a very mindful practice. Thanks for sharing your work with the world!

I love podcasts too!! I have heard about and/or listen to 7 of these! I will have to check the others out :-) I also listen to digi scrap podcasts, business/entrepreneurship, and photography podcasts. My list is waaaayyyy too long :-) I guess I need to stop listening and start doing more :-)

I definitely go through ebbs and flows too. I try out a lot of podcasts and when my list gets too long I weed out the ones that aren’t really inspiring me anymore. I can relate on the doing more… I try to only listen to podcasts when I’m doing non-creative, routine things otherwise they can mess with my head while I’m trying to create. Thanks for reading Claudia!

Thank you so much for this list – I am having a serious love-affair with podcasts too (stealing away to meet with them every chance I get…haha)! My favourite beyond a doubt is On Being. There are a few I haven’t heard of here…can’t wait to check them out. One of my other faves that’s not listed is ‘Sounds True’ by Tami Simon. Enjoy Xx
